Needles Parks Guide: Jack Smith Boat Launch and Duke Watkins Skate Park Serve Different Visitors

NEEDLES — November 2, 2026. Needles’ official Parks and Fields directory identifies separate waterfront and neighborhood recreation areas suited to boating, family outings and skateboarding.

Jack Smith Park on the river

The city lists a boat-launch facility, walking trail with exercise equipment, grassy area and shaded picnic tables at Jack Smith Park. Before taking a boat to the Colorado River, confirm current launch access, water conditions and applicable fees.

Duke Watkins Park

Duke Watkins offers a skate park, pump track, Spike’s Desert Dog Park, splash pad, playground and ballfields. Some amenities have seasonal hours or maintenance restrictions; park access does not guarantee that the splash pad is operating in November.

Ask recreation staff

The Parks and Recreation Department lists 760-326-2814 for park rentals and facility questions. Groups arranging tournaments or large gatherings should obtain required permits first.
