NEEDLES, San Bernardino County — November 4, 2026. Voters in Needles are signaling opposition to Measure D, a proposed change to the city’s charter concerning City Council compensation. The final unofficial election-night count records more than seven in ten votes against the proposal.
Measure D vote totals
The county reports 517 No votes (71.71%) and 204 Yes votes (28.29%), with all four precincts returning their election-night ballots. The measure and its status still require the statutory canvass and certification process.
What was on the ballot
The California Choices election guide identifies Measure D as a City Council Compensation Charter Amendment. It is a separate municipal proposition from the Needles mayoral contest between Janet Jernigan and Jeff Williams and the election for three Council seats. The vote does not itself report how individual council candidates fared.
Why this distinction matters
Compensation provisions concern the framework under which city officials are paid, while the election for individual seats determines who will serve. Later results may include additional valid votes; the present figures should be described as a lead for No, not formal final rejection.
